A fourth version maintains that the site where the ruins of the old church are located is the place of origin of the foundation of Arroyo. Some people say that near the place where what we know today as the Old Church was built, there was a small wooden bridge known as Boquita de Arroyo. Under this bridge ran a stream, where people who traveled would stop to rest. In this place they drank fresh water since the other nearby waters were brackish. Thus the site became famous for its water. By use and custom the place was called “El Arroyo”. That is why we say that the name of our beloved town was inherited by tradition.
