Eric Enrique Bachier Román , born August 21, 1976 in Salinas, Puerto Rico, is a Puerto Rican politician affiliated with the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). Since January 14, 2013, he has served as mayor of the municipality of Arroyo.
Early years and education
The youngest son of Jesús Bachier and Carmen Román, Eric grew up in Arroyo, where he began his primary education at the Dolores Huyke Enrique González School, located in the Jardines de Arroyo Urbanization. Later, he continued his studies at the José de Choudens and Carmen Bozello de Huyke schools, obtaining his high school diploma. Later, he completed an associate degree in Chemical Technology at the University of Puerto Rico in Humacao.
Professional career
Before entering politics, Bachier gained experience in private industry, including serving as a Kmart store manager for 15 years.
Sports career
From an early age, Eric showed interest in baseball, participating in Class A and Double A leagues. He was a member of the Puerto Rican National Youth Team and won gold and silver medals at the Intercollegiate Games (Justas LAI).
Political career
In 2012, Bachier began his political career by running for mayor of Arroyo for the PPD. In the general elections of that year, he defeated then mayor Basilio Figueroa, taking office in January 2013. He was re-elected in the 2016 elections, consolidating his leadership in the municipality.
Personal life
Eric Bachier is married to Glorimar Rodríguez, with whom he has two daughters: Perla del Mar and Ámbar.
