Emergency Management

The Municipal Office for Emergency Management has the mission of protecting lives and property from risks and dangers to which our population may be exposed in emergency situations or disasters such as: hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, tidal waves, landslides, floods and tropical storms.

One of the purposes of Emergency Management is to provide the necessary services in the fastest and most effective way to our citizens.

The services offered by the Office for Emergency Management are:
-People are guided on the shelters to be used, and citizens are kept informed about the progress of the emergency.

-Situations such as: power problems, areas without water, landslides on roads, fires, affected residences, etc. are coordinated with other agencies.

-Talks are offered in schools, churches, CERT groups and Communities on: first aid, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, floods and natural disasters.

-Surveillance and security are provided at activities such as marathons, charity events, school game days, and bike rides.

-Guidance is provided at schools, public and private residential homes, foster homes, public and private institutions on evacuation drills.

-Car accidents are attended to.

-Assist in the search for missing or lost persons in mountainous or urban areas.

-Participation in health fairs, where educational information is provided to citizens.

-Trees that have fallen on public and residential roads are cut down.

-Establishments are inspected and their operational emergency plans are evaluated.
